What is the application process?

The following details a step-by-step process on how to apply to Chapeltown Academy, and what will happen following your application. If you have any queries about this process or would like to check up on an application you can email Sarah Hendry at shendry@chapeltown-mlt.co.uk

  • Step 1 – If you go to a Sheffield school, apply via Sheffield Progress. Your secondary school will help with this process. If you go to a non-Sheffield school, please apply on our website. Please click here to do so.
  • Step 2 – You will hear from Chapeltown Academy within 10 days, regarding an invite to an interview
  • Step 3 – After your interview, you will be made an offer
  • Step 4 – Accept the offer by following the instructions on the offer letter
What grades do I need to be accepted?

These are bespoke for each subject, but basically 5s in the subject you are studying at GCSE or similar if a new subject at A level. Maths is an exception, for this its grade 6 and Further Maths a grade 8.

Is the deadline for applications 31st Jan when Sheffield Progress closes?

No not at all, we accept applications through our website up to enrolment day. However, the longer you leave it, the more chance there is a course will be full.

What if I change my mind with courses I pick?

That is no problem at all! If it is before you start just email us on shendry@chapeltown-mlt.co.uk. You can change your mind right up to October half term.

What will happen if I don’t get the grades?

Don’t panic! It may well be that we can offer you an alternative course or in the case of Maths and English Language, you can resit them.

Where do look I for information on how good Chapeltown Academy is?

The government and DFE website with the link below, will tell you all about our last OFSTED inspection and our last official results in 2019. We were above average nationally on all counts!

I’ve noticed that Engineering and Health & Social Level 3 Extended diploma qualifications are now available. What does this mean?

These two subjects are new. You will need English grade 4 and Maths 5 with science grade 5 to study these. In Engineering a pass in L2 Engineering helps too, but it is not essential. As they are extended diplomas, the full course takes up the equivalent of 3 A-level courses.

I’ve received a letter with an offer. What do I do next?

Please accept within 48 hrs so we know you are interested in joining us and we can keep in touch with upcoming events.
