Lessons and Expectations
Lessons cover all four skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Expect a variety of activities, including independent work, pair work, group work, and whole-class study.
What Will You Study and How is it Assessed?
The course covers twelve topics over two years, including a film in Year 12 and a work of fiction in Year 13. Assessment includes:
– Speaking: 20 minutes – 30%
– Listening, Reading, and Translation: 2 hours 30 minutes – 50%
– Essay Writing: 2 hours – 20%

Entry Requirements
The Academy’s general entry criteria of a minimum of five 4s at GCSE apply. Students need to have a 5 grade in German at GCSE, although this really is an absolute minimum. A grade 5 in English Language is also needed to study German at A Level.
