Last week, Chapeltown Academy had the pleasure of hosting Tom and his team from Emmanuel College at the University of Cambridge for a series of insightful and inspiring workshops. The visit was aimed at supporting our Year 12 and 13 students, helping them better understand how to make competitive university applications, enhance their super-curricular engagement, and gain a clearer picture of life at Oxbridge.
Throughout the day, students participated in a range of activities designed to broaden their understanding of what top universities look for in applicants. The workshops covered key topics such as how to stand out in personal statements, strategies for effective interview preparation, and the importance of academic enrichment beyond the classroom. In addition, our students had the unique opportunity to engage directly with current Cambridge students, asking questions about their studies, university life, and their own application journeys.
This experience provided invaluable guidance and motivation, empowering our students to aim high and consider applying to top-tier universities such as Cambridge. We are excited to build upon this fantastic opportunity by further strengthening our links with Emmanuel College. Next term, our Year 12 students will be visiting the college, allowing them to experience the Cambridge environment firsthand and explore the possibilities of studying at one of the world’s leading universities.
