Chapeltown Chemistry students entered the prestigious and challenging Chemistry Olympiad run by The Royal Society of Chemistry, attending sessions and undertaking practice questions in their own time.
They then completed a very difficult paper, with some particularly complex topics that are not covered on the A Level specification; this really challenged their understanding and ability to apply Chemical knowledge to a range of different situations. With an incisive approach, intelligence, and a dash of brilliance students managed to achieve gold, silver, and bronze awards putting them in the top 30% of the 9000 students who participated throughout the UK.
Teacher of Chemistry Dr Duane Stones commented,
” We are extremely proud of our students for their achievement in the Chemistry Olympiad. They tackled some very tough questions with enthusiasm and a positive attitude to achieve their Awards. To take on this challenge, alongside their regular lessons and assessments showed real spirit and dedication.”
Well done to Chemistry students in the Olympiad – you are brilliant!
