Welcoming our New Principal

Dear Parents/Carers,

I hope this letter finds you well after a restful Christmas break.

I wanted to take the opportunity to formally introduce myself as the new Principal of Chapeltown Academy. I am excited to get started and continue much of the good work that has been done by my predecessor and the team of dedicated staff currently here.

I have spent most of my career working in Sixth Form Colleges and have been fortunate to be part of outstanding organisations that have regularly been top performing at a national level. I have spent the last five years as Headteacher at a 1100 strong 11-16 school which achieved outcomes in the top 10% of all schools nationally. That said, I am confident I can bring a level of experience and expertise to help Chapeltown Academy achieve its future ambitions.

My move back to post-16 would only have been for the right role and from my first visit to Chapeltown back in October, I was really impressed with the atmosphere created by the staff and students. There is a real warmth which does not happen by accident and a clear sign of a positive culture.

Despite being a post-16 college, our young people deserve as much support as possible and I see our relationship with you as being key in achieving their success. My philosophy is a simple one; if we get what we do in lessons right and ensure high quality pastoral care, we will not go too far wrong. I am passionate about being part of a team that works not for the ease of adults, but for the benefit of the students and I look forward to meeting you and working in partnership in the future.

Yours faithfully,

Dom Pinto
